Hi,
Have your summer holidays begun?
I loved the printable roads activity from picklebums. The kids could spend hours playing with their toy cars and trucks on these roads.
On the basis of this activity, we tried something smaller and using stickers. The photos below show exactly what the kids did. On their own mostly. You could also use this activity to teach about transport or vehicles to your child.
What you will need?
Transport stickers or cut outs (We bought them from D-Mart.), A white paper, Roads – sketches or printout, Crayons, Glue, Scissors, green and brown paper to make trees.
Steps:
1.) Make the roads.
You could use a black sheet of paper and white paint to make multiple shaped roads. We used the printable roads. We printed them to an A4 sized paper. The kids cut out the roads and stuck them onto the white paper as they pleased. It was their road after all.
2) Add the background.
They used simple crayons and added some greenery & a sky.
They also stuck the cut out trees alongside the roads.
3) Add the transport stickers
Both of them added the transport stickers. Here are their masterpieces.
Masterpiece 1: Is that a traffic jam?
Masterpiece 2:
They enjoyed this activity a lot. It was very simple to do.
Do try it and let us know if you found it simple too.

love this idea will surely try
Thanks so much Sharada. 🙂
We can also add few traffic lights, zebra lines and few pedestrians and a traffic island at the junction and teach the children the basic traffic rules. This play can be fun and educational too.
Ooh I love your ideas.. Now, I hadn’t thought of these at all. Next time we do this activity, will definitely add these. 🙂 Thanks for reading in and leaving a comment, Sangeetha.
