Hi,
We really loved doing this Valentine’s day activity because my daughter loves hearts.
What is special about this activity?
- It’s very easy to do with minimal help from an adult. Kids aged 3 years and above should be able to do the pasting required quite easily.
- The materials used are already present at home or easily available.
- The final effect is awesome and the final product is useful. Just hang it as a decor in your garden or balcony or doorway or even inside your car.
What you need?
Cardboard from a cardboard packing box, scissors, glue, a heart-shaped box or a stencil or just print out a template to help you, pens and you need one of the following: Straws, buttons, artificial gemstones.
And before we begin, the fevicol once dried will not be visible as white patches (Doesn’t really matter!) or you can also use clear glue.
A heart full of buttons
Steps:
1. Draw a heart on the cardboard using the heart-shaped box or stencil. Cut it out.
2. Poke a hole if you want to hang it before you start applying glue. Now apply glue and just go on pasting the multi-colored, multi-size buttons.
3. Try to keep minimal space between the buttons.
Easy peasy, huh?
And the story does not end here. We had to make a baby heart too. So here it is.
And I actually wanted to hang these lovely hearts but, they were already in those little hands making this collage. When I complained that I wanted to hang my mom heart, I was told that, the entire collage paper was mine and I could hang the entire paper instead!
A heart full of gems
Steps
1. Same as above. Cut out the cardboard hearts.
2. Apply glue and make a border with your gemstones. Then apply glue and keep adding the gemstones.
3. We had a shortage of gemstones hence we added the mirror in between and a simple purple glitter foam punched heart in the center.
Doesn’t our pink and purple heart look beautiful? This one I am gifting my daughter. She loves pink and purple.
A heart full of straw
Steps
1. Step 1 remains the same. Cut out the cardboard hearts.
2. Cut the straws into small almost equal sized pieces. Apply glue and stick the pieces as a border. Give some time for glue to dry as surface sticking to cardboard is very less. It looks beautiful even with only the border. You could add a lovely message to it.
3. Now, just apply the glue and just spread the straw pieces randomly on the glue. Wait for the glue to dry. If you see any pockets where you haven’t applied glue earlier, repeat this action.
We had just three colors in our straws but, we believe that if you had straws of many different colors, it would have looked more fabulous.
Three beautiful hearts from just some cardboard pieces?
