Hi,
Each of these posts was thought provoking.
Some on a personal level, some on a social level and some on a purely humanitarian level.
Each one of the writers has a unique style which the posts conveyed.
The first one was from Sakshi, The Tamasha of Life and Death.
It was not only a super use of the prompt but as I read it, I forgot all about the prompt & could only hear the urgent voice the post had. This lady sure does have a way with the words. When I read her posts they are never like a factual drone. They have their own life and the words talk to you directly from the heart. There were no explosive words but, the post in itself was explosive. The topic itself was so meaningful and this post made it more meaningful.
Here are some of the sentences which stayed with me long after the post:
“Cooperate, as you get killed to be born in the form of your child”
“world creates a circus around you”
“You are crying inside, smiling in their face”
“Say ‘shh’, politely. Then ‘Stop the show. Of meaninglessness.’”
The second one, by Privy Trifles, The diary of another daughter.
It was based on a prompt where you had to write your old post in a different way than before.
Written simply in the form of a diary, it makes an instant connect. It describes how any daughter would feel in a house where the way you were brought up depended only on your gender.
I come from a family of three daughters so, I never had a personal experience as described in the post. I was the son & the daughter.
When I read the post, it was as if I was a witness to this daughter’s innermost thoughts, unsaid pain, dashed hopes & her life with all it’s adaptability. After this post, I went and read the original one. Please do read that one too. It then completes the cycle of the varying emotions this topic brings forth. A bond between a father and a daughter.
Some of the sentences which stayed with me:
“She cried for the loss of her child, one that she couldn’t keep because it was another me”
“Till now I belonged to you and did all that you wanted just to please you once. And now I was his and will do all that he wanted to please him. Strangeness or familiarity no longer mattered now.”
And third, a post which I did not read very recently but, which has made me smile all the way by Dagny Sol, A compliment or two.
There is a certain zing to Danny’s words and they make you feel alive as you read those lines. I am always being termed “Nice” and I do have a problem accepting compliments 🙂 so, maybe that’s why I loved the way she makes you almost learn to take a compliment and give a compliment. It’s like a lovely teacher, teaching you something basic with only her magic for words & a lesson most fantastic.
Here is my comment on her blog which says it all:
“Hi, As I started reading, I thought it would be a philosophical post on complimenting (like mine would have been!) but I was thrown away. And I loved it. These were my favorite sentences ” I don’t do nice. I feel like throwing it in boiling oil and them stamping it to death again once it is charred beyond recognition.” and “Collect compliments with thankfulness, grace and joy; distribute them with benevolence and pleasure. Let them move around you as light as air. Aid their circulation with a free hand.” Superb command over the language, if I may compliment you. That YOU made me sit up straight and say “Yes, maam!” And I am still laughing but the super part is, I got the message.”
I hope you find time to read all these three posts. They were awesome. I have learned that in order to grow as an individual, as a blogger, as a mother, as a professional, it is important to read & read & read 🙂
I had already finished making this post but, just as I was about to publish this, something came in my mailbox. I have subscribed to this blog. My Daughter’s mum. This post also brought forth so many emotions – pride, respect, worry, sadness, love, motherhood & some words are still caught in my brain. Take a look at this post if you find some more time. [Written for WordPress Daily Prompts : 365 Writing Prompts aimed at posting at least once a day, based on the prompts provided. The prompt for today was – “Give some love to three blog posts you’ve read and loved in the past week, and tell us why they’re worth reading.”]
Love,
Poornima
Three very worthy posts I would say. (Also secretly proud that one of the Project 365 core team’s posts up there. Yes, Sakshi lets us bask in her success quite often!).
I recently read both versions of Privy’s post and it was quite an emotional ride, beautifully penned. As for Dagny, I have no words to describe the writing prowess of this woman. She’s not just a fellow writer, but a personal friend too, and trust me, she is absolutely amazing at both!
Great picks Poornima
Thank you Sid 🙂 I am so glad to be part of Project 365. I would have probably missed so many of those treasured posts 🙂 Now, just as a secret between you and me, I was tempted to include one of your posts which also gave me much joy [Well, most of your humorous posts do because as you know, I cannot write Humour so, I do the next best thing – enjoy it :)] — the post on What women want. Fantastic 🙂
Awww… you are SUCH a sweetheart Sid! Thank you. You do famously in both the roles yourself. 🙂
A BIG thumbs up for SID 🙂
I have read all of these posts and I totally agree with you. Sakshi, Dagny, Privy have written such beautiful posts that you can’t help but read them again and again.
I am so glad that you have liked them. Thanks for finding the time to read through them Jaspreet and also to comment here 🙂
Lovely posts each of them 🙂 And agree with every word you have written about these authors as well.. goes to say how much they have influenced us readers
Hellooo, You are awesome too. I tell you, Your fiction post of the lady in the black saree was super. I was waiting for every part 🙂
If I say I love your choice of recently read posts, I might run the risk of blowing my own trumpet. 🙂 Let me just say how happy you made me feel on a day full of stress and tension. Like I said, this was an instant drink of Confidence you made me sip. Thank you, Poornima. Those who acknowledge the good bits of others with such magnanimity are very beautiful people. And you my dear are that inside out!
Happy to have you as a friend. Lots of love!
Thank you so much Sakshi. Your comment is making me all teary eyed 🙂 Bless you.
Poornima: Thank you for the lovely things you’ve said of me and the post. To be considered a teacher is the biggest compliment to me. Thank you. I am thrilled. <3

This goes for the posts as well as for the bloggers these ladies are.
As a reader, I admire your blog love, as well as these three gems, equally. 🙂
