Dear Friends,
I have always loved poems and short stories.
I cannot say, I love literature because when you love something, you definitely manage to find time for it. I cannot even claim, I read a lot or my knowledge on any particular subject is overwhelming. However, With a series of these posts, it is my feeble attempt to bring to memory some of my favorite poems and stories. There is a need in me to share these with you because they bring me joy, hope, happiness and satisfaction. I do not want to stop here. I want to open my mind and heart to YOUR favorite poems and stories. Stories which have moved you or inspired you or touched a chord somewhere. Please share these in your comments or you can also write to me at aspoonfulofideas(at)gmail.com and I will feature them in my blog to share with other great minds 🙂
Love, Poornima

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
William Ernest Henley
