Hello,
My daughter saw a pictures of my older post on fish tank . She wanted a real one now but, for the time being we have compromised on making this one again. This time, I was ready with my camera to click pictures of intermediate steps 🙂
I was going to title it “How to use fish stickers?” 🙂 Stickers my friends are readily available for varied topics and could be used for simple craft and learning. I hope to make another post on this topic.
Meanwhile, it is such a right time to make this fish tank and talk to your child about fishes, underwater creatures like sea horses, tortoises, star fishes and crabs.
A lovely story would also go hand in hand with this theme. I recommend the books:
Tiddler: The Story Telling Fish by writer Julia Donaldson and illustrations by Axel Scheffler. Tiddler tells the tallest tales in the ocean, so who will believe him when he really gets caught in a net. You need to read it to find out the ending 🙂
Also, Turtle’s Tall Tale by Aimee Said and illustrations by Lisa Kerr. Turtle was an explorer and loved retelling his wonderful adventures when he returned from his expeditions. But the sea creatures believe that Turtle is telling tall tales. Read to find out what happens next. Lisa Kerr’s illustrations are also enchanting.
It’s the same simple fish tank as before so, go ahead and try this one for sure. The steps are also as mentioned before. I am just copying them here again for ease of reading and relating.
It just took us a few minutes to do it.
Steps:
First cover the box outside in deep blue paper
Then cover the inside of the box in strips of different shaded blue papers. The strips can be hand ripped or simply cut out wave shapes.
When you stick leave the upper part of the strip open so that it gives a wavy effect and you can insert the fish sticker in half way.
On the bottom of the box stick the shells with glue.
then just go on sticking the fish stickers in and about the tank.
Cut out some wavy sea foliage from the green paper and stick on the bottom of the tank. You can add fish stickers between these so that they look half hidden.
Do let me know if you made it and if so, don’t forget to share your photos with your very own fish tank 🙂
Lots of bubbles,
Poornima
Wow! That’s a wonderful and so colourful and so very creative fish tank. Loved it! 🙂
Thanks Shilpa. I was unable to show steps in the earlier post. That was done long long ago so, I took a chance to do it again. This time with clear steps 🙂
I have the 1st book in my wishlist but did not know anything about the 2nd one (will be looking out for it). This is a fantastic craft that will go well with any ocean life kind of book – pinning it and will definitely try to recreate this here and will let you know how it goes. Btw thanks for the detailed tutorial by the little Miss, she makes it look simple, doesn’t she? Adorable 🙂
Ha ha.. Thanks Veena. Little miss was actually “following” instructions for a change. Yes, do try it. I am amazed that it is so easy and looks so lovely too. No wonder, I keep posting about it again and again. I think I like it more than the little missy 🙂
Hi Poornima , Wow…it is beautiful ! Would definitely try this with my son.
Thank you and it really turns out to b beautiful 🙂
