Hi everyone,
I feel like I am posting after a long, long time.
My Aruja is sick and additionally, problems with my laptop & internet connectivity.
Anyway, on holi – the day of colors, my daughter had a holiday so, we spent some time doing this very simple activity.
Steps:
1) Sharpen all the crayons and collect their fillings. If you want to engage your child, let her do this herself for a longer time 🙂 Just remember to explain that this was to be done only for this activity else you will find crayon shavings all around your house later.
2) Take any picture you like. If you want, fold it like a card to make a super greeting card. So, you can draw a heart as below and let your child apply a thick layer of fevicol or glue to it.
I also traced Peppa pig, my child’s favorite cartoon character & we, applied fevicol liberally to her dress. We had made a post earlier on our favorite ten cartoons. Click here if you want to read it now.
3) Sprinkle the crayon shavings onto the fevicol pasted part. Let it dry.
4) Hold the paper upright and blow gently to remove any extra crayon shavings.
5) Repeat steps 2,3 & 4 if any parts are remaining where the glue had been absent.
6) Once, the crayon shavings get stuck well, then, take a plastic bag or any plastic cover and gently press on the picture. The crayon shavings will now form a neat picture and will not fall off easily.
Ta dah!! Just a few minutes and it’s done.
Don’t forget to display your child’s work 🙂
Add your own sweet messages.
Few more tips:
1) Store extra crayon shavings for a next time. When Aruja’s friend Aarav had come home, he wanted to do some activity and as we had these ready. He made this star card in no time.
2) Use nicer, pattern paper for more effect. We were just fooling around so we took whatever was available.
3) Suppose you want to make earth, then just use the colors blue, green, brown and use a circle shape. You might find so many possibilities.
Good luck and if you have any such simple activities to share, be sure to take part in our – Team up with us. You can share one from your own blog or send us your details and we will make a post here.
Lotsa good times,
Poornima
