Hi everyone,
This post was inspired by some information exchanged between me and my friend Sirisha.
It’s soon going to be Christmas time and that means holidays. Time for some great quality time with our kids and also time for gifting. Here’s something which can add to your ideas, if you are planning to gift your child a craft kit, complete with all essentials needed for a variety of craft activities.
I am going to fill this post with pictures so that you will be able to get a more clear “picture” 😉 of what your special box should consist of.
I am not particularly mentioning logical points for each item. A few common points would be : –
#If there are really small pieces like beads, buttons or sequences, use adult supervision while using them with very small kids.
#Glue and cello tapes should be used only on craft materials and not on skin or hair. (I do like to pull off the fevicol on my hands once it dries up!)
#Pipecleaners or sticks could be dangerous if poked in the eyes.
CRAFT ESSENTIALS FOR A CHILD’s CRAFT BOX.
A Variety of papers
Coloured card paper bundles A4 size
Patterned card paper bundles with different designs A4 size
Other different papers like shiny or glittery papers and corrugated sheets in A4 size
Sticky partners
Glue – Fevicol is my most favorite. Gluetack is for reusable sticking activity. I use it to stick our photos on cupboards and fridge. It leaves no marks on removal.
Cello tape. Scotch tape is my favorite as it causes no damage to walls, books or any other surfaces.
Double sided tape.
Beads, sequences, Embellishments, Pompoms and Buttons
Paints
Threads and Ribbons
Again a wide variety item. Collect as per availability.
Pipe cleaners
Scissors
Foam Sheets Mixed colors in A4 size
Also available now are glitter foam sheets which are shiny.
Felt sheets in mixed colors in A4 size.
Stickers
Any and every sticker can be put to use in some way 🙂
Craft Punches
Some more items could be added like sketch pens, googly eyes, play dough clay and ice cream sticks.
Let me stop here before my list becomes unending.
Hope you will be able to find most of these items to make your very own Craft kit.
With love,
Poornima

Lovely list!! I’d say that googly eyes and ice cream sticks are also must haves :-). This also works as a gift wrapping kit!!
Thanks for reading in. I just wanted to write and add so much more 🙂 but, I took one look at the photo of the googly eyes I had taken and decided to leave the photo out 🙂 Itsy bitsy has coloured icecream sticks. http://aspoonfulofideas.com/cardboard-rolls-get-rolling/ — there is photo in this post. Check it if interested 🙂
I suspect there is a dormant crafter in me! I have a few of these in our craft box and I am particularly intrigued by felt sheets. I haven’t seen them around. Craft is such a fun way to keep the toddler busy. I also make our own paints and I make coloured rice too. 🙂
I think there is a dormant crafter in everyone and especially mommies because it is one of the good ways to occupy a kid’s lovely mind. You make your own paints? wow. how? you have a post about it? pls send me a link 🙂 Thanks for reading in
Nice list Poornima! I do have most of these which Ii keep using off and on. Googly eyes are definitely a must have and I love your collection of punches. Rituparna, how do you make your own paints? Would love to hear.
Thanks so much Priya.
Awesome list! Thanks this is so helpful for the awful crafter momma like ME! 🙂
Thank you so much.
I just checked out your blog. You seem to love books. I wanted to read some reviews but was unable to. The link did not work 🙁 Also, I wanted to know if you have reviewed any books suitable to 2-4 year olds.
Poornima – thank you for checking out my blog. Thank you for pointing out that the reviews are not working, I came to wordpress sometime back but forgot to update my links (lol!) I have reviewed only 3 books of Aarya’s but I have over 100 more to review (all in due time :)). Here is the link – http://totschooltotallyawesome.wordpress.com/tag/book-activity/
If you let me know the interests of your baby, I might be able to help you out with some books we have loved here. Let me know, so cool to connect with a mommy blogger from my part of the world 🙂

Hello,
Could you recommend any online store were we can get all these?
Thanks
Hi Preeti,
Itsy Bitsy is an online store. A bit expensive as compared to local stationery shops but good quality.
You will also find many things on Amazon.in
Enjoy your crafting.
Rgds, Poornima
Thanks so much Swapna.
